RFL Clothing Fair

The RFL Clothing Fair 2010 starts today Saturday at 3 pm SL time.  Prepare to be immersed in 8 of the greatest "Fashion Cities of the World" surrounding a center sim patterned after the UN Sculpture Gardens containing sculptures from some of SL's most talented artists. With over 150 designers, a photo contest,  a treasure hunt  and live music, it will be a rocking place.

The cities are impressive to say the least. Is it going to be laggy?  Oh my, yes. It is laggy with no one in the sim (wink), so those of you that love to battle the virtual elements will be in your own little happy place. Sculpties and particles and 1024 textures abound. So come prepared to wait while things load. Email reading or inventory sorting is allowed.

Most of my readers know the drill by now. Deprim and DESCRIPT. Be sensible. You can look good without taxing the sim any more than necessary. One action mentioned in the press pack notecard that I didn't know was turning OFF "avatar impostors". This feature is under your Preferences tab. I changed my setting last night but found that the viewer had added that pesky little check mark back this morning. Who know? So take a peek and uncheck that box before you come. You cannot double click to hop here (Emerald viewer) but you can fly. And for those of you who haven't figured it out yet, flying gets you places must faster in lag than trying to walk. That is my tip of the day.

One easy way to get dressed -- or undressed as the case may be -- is to put your "reasonable" outfit together, then right click on yourself and choose Take Off -- Detach All from the pie menu.  You will be hairless and shoeless and HUDless. Add back some low prim, non flexi hair (the fewer sculpts the better) and you are set. Hair fair bandannas are also fashionable.

One of my personal favorite spots is the New Delhi build, one of the seas of peacefulness at the fair. It is a lovely place for photos so I hope to return for a fashion shoot before the fair ends. Or, perhaps this lovely space will find a new home after the event is over. The fair runs through Sunday, March 21, 2010 when the doors must close at 9pm SLT.
